Important Update regarding the Electrolux Dishwasher EW24ID80QS

The Electrolux Dishwasher EW24ID80QS has been discontinued and you can no longer buy it brand new.

It has been replaced by the Frigidaire FFCD2418US 24 Inch Built In Dishwasher, which comes from the same parent company as Electrolux.

Standard cycles: 5

Place settings: 14
Frigidaire FFCD2418US 24 Inch Built In Dishwasher

With NSF Certification, a stainless steel interior tub, and a stay put door hinge system, the Frigidaire FFCD2418US is a highly affordable dishwasher, clocking in at much less than $500.

The unit is available in three different color schemes: black, stainless steel, and white. Leaving the aesthetics aside, the Frigidaire FFCD2418US Dishwasher has a delay start option of up to four hours and Energy Star certification for low water and energy consumption.

Another thing we like about this unit is the self-cleaning filter which eliminates hard food bits and reduces the needs for maintenance by a large margin. It also comes with a sanitize option that increases the temperature to greatly reduce bacteria and other pathogens that might otherwise feast on your dishes.

Pros
Delay start option of up to 4 hours allows you to organize your time much better in case you have time to load the dishes but not enough time to wait for a wash cycle to finish
The self-cleaning filter greatly reduces maintenance costs and can handle even slightly larger hardened food bits so you don’t have to worry about pre-rinsing and pre-scrubbing
Relatively easy to install, especially if you’re replacing and old dishwasher that you no longer need
High temperature wash cleans and dries dishes efficiently while also eliminating dangerous bacteria and other pathogens; it’s a feature that we especially like for baby care products
Although there are only five wash cycles to choose from, they are all well thought out for different tasks; you’ll find everything from economy wash for lightly soiled dishes or small loads to heavy wash for those really dirty pots and pans
Cons
Could use a little more space between the two racks, as it is a bit difficult to load larger dishes
Sometimes it makes more noise than advertised; although it doesn’t happen often, it might be a turn off for some people

Verdict

The Frigidaire FFCD2418US 24 Inch Built In Dishwasher is sturdy, reliable, and genuinely affordable when you think about the fact that it can hold up to 14 place settings.

Seeing that it comes from one of the most reliable dishwasher brands, it’s safe to assume that it will last you for quite some time before showing any signs of breaking. As for the user experience, you’ll be happy to know that it’s easy to use and that the manual goes through a lot of useful information. It’s unlikely that you’ll have any trouble with it any time soon. And, again, for the price, it’s worth it.

If you’re looking for a luxury style dishwasher for your home, then the Electrolux dishwasher EW24ID80QS is ideal. Not only does it come with an impressive number of wash cycles (nine), it also has many other high-end features for a fraction of the cost.

Complete with four spray arms and a rinse aid dispenser, this dishwasher is also highly customizable. There is an adjustable third rack that stores cutlery and silverware baskets that can be split up and positioned almost anywhere in the first two racks. When it comes to high-end amenities, this model can be set on a delayed start of up to 24 hours and it has a child lock to prevent little ones from opening this as well.

Design benefits of this model come in the way of adjustable legs so this dishwasher can accommodate a number of various kitchen layouts. Additionally, the interior is equipped with a ‘tall tub’ design that allows for larger dishes and unusually shaped pieces to be loaded and cleaned efficiently. The stainless steel interior is another bonus and the energy efficiency of this model is also impressive. It comes with a smart wash sensor that adjusts the length of certain cycles, as well as the water use, in order to ensure the best wash possible.

Pros
Child safety lock so that it cannot be started inadvertently or opened while in use.
Comes with the ability to set a delayed start from 1 hour up to 24.
Adjustable dishwasher legs are great for installation and customization.
Movable silverware baskets and third-level cutlery rack.
4 different temperature settings and 9 wash cycles including the option to create your own wash cycle (‘My Favorite’).
18 flexible grips that are ideal for securing delicate items and stemware during any wash cycle.
Digital control panel with the electronic display for easy cycle selection and tracking.
Dishwasher designed with a ‘tall tub’ to accommodate large and unusually shaped items.
4 spray arms for maximum wash efficiency and a soil sensor for optimum energy use.
Foldable tines for rack customization and better loading ability.
Best for homes with lots of dishes and those in need/want of advanced functionality.
Cons
Not built for outdoor use and will not withstand the elements.
The warranty is not automatically applied and you must first register your dishwasher within the first 60 days of purchase, delivery or closing in order to qualify.
Depending on the dry cycle selected and the heat level, the dishes don’t always dry as well.
The dishwasher door doesn’t open all the way by itself and needs pressure to come all the way down to a 90-degree angle.
Digital components will sometimes have errors that result in incomplete wash cycles and/or the wash cycle will block and you will have to reset the model.
Is not too durable and may require repairs within the first year depending on the regularity of use.
Maybe unnecessarily complex for those who just want to wash the dishes (e.g. seniors, people living alone).

WHAT THE USER REVIEWS SAY

The Good:

Overall the Electrolux dishwasher EW24ID80QS is a fantastic model to install in your home. While on the lower end of the price range, this has many high-end features that normally come in models twice the price.

One of the most notable benefits of this model is the eight preset cycles and a bonus ninth cycle that allows you to customize a wash depending on your needs and preferences. Additionally, this model is quite spacious and comes with multiple options for adjusting the racks, tines, and silverware trays.

The Bad:

While overall this model is impressive, there are a few things to keep in mind. Note the reviews that paint a less than perfect picture. However, most of the comments are related to the aesthetics of the dishwasher. The number one caution is that the digital display and control panel are not very durable. Additionally, for all of the enviable features, you shouldn’t use it outside, which limits it to indoor kitchen use only.

HOW TO SELECT THE IDEAL DISHWASHER

Choosing the ideal dishwasher doesn’t have to be a complex, stressful process. It is true there is an ever-growing pool of available models. However, selecting the right one for your home and family really comes down to a few key points:

1. Family Size

The more people that live in your home and use dishes, the larger, and more efficient the dishwasher you will need. The amount of dish use increases. Chances are, the more people who live at home, the more often the dishwasher will run. The larger the family, the larger and more durable the dishwasher needs to be.

2. Desirable Features & Aesthetics

Once you’ve established the size of the dishwasher you will need and have an idea of how often you’re going to use it, make a list of the features you’d like in addition to a basic wash. Some additional perks include:

  • Delay Start
  • Adjustable Inner Racks
  • # of Wash Cycles

CONCLUSION

When it comes to performance, the Electrolux dishwasher EW24ID80QS comes out on top. Not only is it on the lower end of the price scale, but it also comes with many additional features. The latter you can often find only in more expensive models. Indeed, there are some instances where this model fell short in regards to longevity. However, the perks far outweigh the drawbacks in this model and make it an excellent choice for any buyer.
